Who Is Roger K. Hershline, PHD, MD
Roger
Kenneth Hershline, Ph.D., M.D. is the founder of Global Humanceuticals Inc. and
currently is the CEO and Head of the Global Humanceuticals, Inc. Research and
Development and Product Development Departments. Dr. Hershline is also the
founder of CURE HIV a not-for-profit organization.
Dr. Hershline holds both a Ph.D. and an M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his synthetic organic and biomechanistic studies under Professor Paul Dowd. Dr. Hershline investigated and contributed new understanding in the molecular events of Vitamin B12, Vitamin K, aspirin and tetrodotoxin.
After completion of his formal doctorate studies and post-doctoral research studies, Dr. Hershline accepted admittance to the University of Pittsburgh Medical School in 1987. There he obtained his M.D. in 1991. As a medical student, he received a Gold Medal Research Award from Cheeseborough-Ponds, usually only granted to medical school faculty members. Dr. Hershline also studied clinical pharmacology with Dr. James Perel at UPMC while completing his medical education.
During his medical school training, where he was first introduced to HIV, Dr. Hershline conceived of a potentially new anti-HIV drug. "Graduate work in chemistry taught me how to make new chemicals and potentially new drugs. Medical school exposed me to what needed to be made," states Dr. Hershline.
Dr. Hershline completed his medical training through internal medicine internship and residency at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital which was the original University of Pittsburgh Medical School. He completed his residency training in 1994.
Dr. Hershline worked extensively as an emergency room physician following his residency training. From this experience, he became interested in the prevention of injuries and eventually became the State of North Carolina Registered Physician for U.S. Airways employees from 1999 to 2005. Dr. Hershline then moved to Hilton Head Island to continue preventative medicine and founded Welplex of the Low Country, a treatment center for nicotine dependency.
Dr. Hershline was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Global Humanceuticals, Inc. was founded in 2006. Dr. Hershline's goals are to continue his research efforts in preventative medicine through the CURE HIV.
Dr. Hershline is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), the American Chemical Society (ACS), and the American Association of Medical Review Officers (AAMRO). He holds medical licenses in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and South Carolina.
